Throwback: When Jaya Bachchan stated that Aishwarya Rai is NOT her daughter; 'There is a difference between....'

For months now, speculation has been rife that there has been a rift in the Bachchan family, and that Aishwarya, along with her daughter Aaradhya, has moved out of the family home. Regardless, the family maintains a dignified silence on the matter, with both Abhishek and Aishwarya attending many public events, without each other.

Recently, the Devdas actress even hosted a grand birthday party for her daughter's 13th birthday, but dad Abhishek was conspicuous by his absence. Amidst all this, an old video of Jaya Bachchan has gone viral, in which she states that Aishwarya is not her daughter, rather daughter-in-law, and she maintains that boundary.

In a video shared on Instagram by dystopiacape, Jaya is having a conversation with designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Jaya openly discussed her role as a mother-in-law. When asked if she was strict with Aishwarya after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya responded with a straightforward assertion: “Strict? She’s not my daughter! She’s my daughter-in-law. Why should I be strict with her? I’m sure her mother has done that for her”.
Jaya elaborated on her views by stating, “There is a difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law, you know. I mean, I don’t know why, but you don’t feel you don’t need to respect your parents. As a daughter, you take your parents for granted. With your in-laws, you can’t do that”. This distinction highlights the different expectations and responsibilities that come with each familial role.
Jaya also acknowledged that relationships can evolve over time. She noted, “And later on, things change – because today, I feel more a Bachchan than a Bhaduri”. This statement reflects her growing connection to the Bachchan family, indicating that her bond with Aishwarya may deepen as time progresses.

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan finally addressed all of it, on his latest blog post, albeit cryptically. On Thursday afternoon, the legendary actor penned a long note on his blog, and expressed why he doesn't talk much about his family. He also spoke about the truth behind these speculations. Big B wrote, "It takes immense courage conviction and a sincerity to be different and believe in its presence in life .. I rarely say much about family, because that is my domain and its privacy is maintained by me .. Speculations are speculations .. they are speculated untruths, without verifications .. "

The 'Don' actor further mentioned how reports or what's written must be verified first. But untruths .. or selected question marked information can be a legal safeguard for them that inform .. but the seed of suspected belief is sown with this most used emblem .. the question mark .."
He further cryptically expressed disappointment on several unverified pieces. "Write express whatever you like .. but when you follow it up with a question mark, you are not only saying that the write may be questionable .. but also quite surreptitiously wanting the reader to believe and expand on it, so that your write gets valued repeats," said Big B.
Bachchan used a question mark to speak about the conscience of those who spread things without being unsure or having them verified.
