Number of girls grows to 46% in IIM-Nagpur’s 9th convocation
Nagpur: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur celebrated its 9th annual convocation on Sunday at its MIHAN campus, awarding degrees to 267 MBA students, including 120 girls.The number of female graduatesat the prestigious institute has risen to 46%, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous batch (2022–24). The current MBA batch (2023–25) comprises 257 students, including 117 girls. Additionally, 10 students from the previous batch also received their degrees during the ceremony.In addition to the flagship MBA programme, degrees were conferred on 62 students from the Executive MBA programmes in Nagpur and Pune, as well as 10 students from the international dual degree programme, bringing the total number of degrees awarded to 329.The MBA batch achieved100% placement, with the highest cost-to-company (CTC) package offered at nearly Rs70 lakh per annum.Initially, IIM Nagpurhad a lower gender ratio, with fewer girls opting for admission. However, since 2018, the trend has steadily improved.Puneet Chhatwal, MD and CEO of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), was the chief guest at the event. Also present were CP Gurnani, chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG), IIM Nagpur director Bhimaraya Metri, members of the BoG, faculty, and staff.Addressing the graduates, Chhatwal urged them to lead with purpose.
"If you follow the purpose, success is just a consequence. Everything else falls into place. Practice without vision or purpose is not sustainable. Now is your time to lead, set new benchmarks, and cultivate a growth mindset that will help you thrive," he said.Gurnani echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of innovation, continuous learning, and resilience.Presenting the director's report, Metri highlighted the institute's significant growth. Over the past five years, IIM Nagpur has recorded a 40.82% increase in revenue and a 453.8% rise in net worth. The MBA programme achieved 100% placement this year, including four international offers. The highest package offered stood at Rs69.57 LPA.
