Nawazuddin Siddiqui says there’s nothing wrong with actors dancing at weddings: 'We’re all bhands'

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has never shied away from speaking his mind, and in a recent chat on the All About Eve YouTube channel, he offered a candid take on how society views actors, especially when they perform at private events like weddings.When asked if he would ever dance at a wedding, the Sacred Games actor didn't hesitate. “Yes, why not? What’s wrong with it?” he replied, adding that such performances are simply part of an actor’s professional journey.While many criticise Bollywood stars for dancing at lavish private events, Siddiqui believes there’s nothing shameful about it.He went on to reflect on how entertainers were once treated. Nawaz shared that historically, performers or bhands were looked down upon and even excluded from respectable society. “They were seen as unfit; they were seen as people who didn’t have any ideologies or beliefs… They would only be allowed to enter [villages] to perform, and then they’d be sent right back out.”This perspective isn't unique to Siddiqui. Stars like Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh have previously joked about the frequency with which they’re invited to dance at weddings. On Koffee with Karan, Ranveer recalled being told by Akshay, "Shaadi hai, main naach raha hoon; birthday hai, main naach raha hoon; mundan hai, bachcha ro raha hai, main naach raha hoon." The two actors have openly embraced the entertainment aspect of their celebrity status.On the work front, Nawazuddin recently appeared in Costao, a biographical crime drama directed by Sejal Shah. The film revolves around a Goa-based customs officer, Coatao Fernandes, who took on a gold smuggling racket. The cast also includes Priya Bapat, Kishore, and Hussain Dalal.
