These countries have the most robots in their workforce
The global robot revolution is in full swing, a report has suggested, noting that the average robot density has more than doubled the figure from seven years ago. As per the latest World Robotics 2024 report, factories worldwide are rapidly adopting automation with the average robot density reaching a record 162 units per 10,000 employees. The report also revealed 6 countries that lead in robot adoption in 2023.
“Robot density serves as a barometer to track the degree of automation adoption in the manufacturing industry around the world,” said Takayuki Ito, president of the International Federation of Robotics.

Top countries with the highest robot density

South Korea has become the first nation to have robots comprise 10% of its workforce. According to the report, which was released recently, South Korea boasts 1,102 robots for every 10,000 employees. Robot density has increased by 5% on average each year since 2018, the report added.
The second post goes to Singapore with 770 robots per 10,000 employees. Singapore is a small country with a very low number of employees in the manufacturing industry.
China took third place in 2023, surpassing Germany and Japan, as the country pushed to the use of automation technology. This resulted in a high robot density of 470 robots per 10,000 employees.
Germany ranks fourth with 429 robots per 10,000 employees, followed by
Japan in fifth place with 419 units. Robot density in the US reached 295 units in 2023, ranking tenth in the world.
“This year's runner-up is China, which ranks third worldwide behind Korea and Singapore, but right up with Germany and Japan,” Ito added.

Regional robot density

When it comes to region-wise robot density, the European Union boasts a robot density of 219 units, with Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Slovenia ranking among the top 10 globally. It is followed by North America with a robot density of 197 units, Asia with robot density at 182 units per 10,000 employees.
