Josh Giddey has been making waves in the basketball world, especially after his stunning buzzer-beater against the Los Angeles Lakers that propelled his team, the Chicago Bulls, to a 119-117 victory. The Australian guard was in his A-game for the Bulls, delivering a clutch performance. But nothing stands out quite like his jaw-dropping half-court buzzer-beater that stunned the Los Angeles Lakers and sent the United Center into a frenzy. But in the process, he joined NBA legend
Michael Jordan’s elite Bulls club.
Josh Giddey joined Michael Jordan’s elite Chicago Bulls club
In one of this season’s most thrilling moments, Josh Giddey drained a half-court shot at the buzzer to lift the Bulls to a 119-117 victory over the Lakers. With just three seconds left and Chicago trailing by one. Giddey brought the ball up the court and unleashed a deep three-pointer from beyond half-court. The arena erupted with loud cheers as the ball went through the basket.
“Special moment to do it with these guys, this team,” Giddey said after the game.
Giddey finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists, and two steals in 40 minutes, securing his fifth triple-double of the season. This achievement places him in exclusive company— only Michael Jordan has recorded more triple-doubles in a single season for the Bulls, with 15 in 1988-89.
This unforgettable shot acted as a stunning propeller for an incredible comeback for the Bulls. The team had trailed by as many as 18 points. In the closing moments, Patrick Williams and Coby White drained back-to-back three-pointers to keep Chicago alive. Then, after Giddey intercepted a LeBron James pass, White knocked down another clutch three to give the Bulls a 116-115 lead. Austin Reaves responded with a layup to put the Lakers back on top, setting the stage for Giddey’s heroics.
The numbers get even more impressive when looking at his recent stretch. Over his last 10 games, Giddey has claimed 220 points, 96 rebounds, and 100 assists. Such a statistical feat puts him in the same conversation as legendary names like Jordan, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, and Magic Johnson.
Since joining the Bulls, Giddey has been on a path to make his name stand out in the league. He’s averaging 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting nearly 47% from the field and 38.4% from three-point range.
