Rory McIlroy didn’t just slip on the iconic Green Jacket after his Masters victory, he also made a subtle but bold change online, and golf fans are loving it.
Following his dramatic playoff win at Augusta National, the 35-year-old Northern Irishman quietly updated his social media bio to read: “Grand Slam winner.” It’s a two-word edit that marks a massive milestone.

McIlroy became just the sixth golfer in the modern era to complete the career grand slam, joining the elite company of Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods.
Along with the bio tweak, McIlroy also updated his profile photo to one of him proudly holding the Masters trophy in his new green jacket, a moment fans had waited over a decade to witness.
Reactions poured in on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and golf forums. Some dubbed the move a “huge flex,” while others labeled it “the least humble brag I’ve seen” but all seemed to agree that the champion had earned it.
“Rory's had that edit in drafts for 11 years,” one fan joked.
“Changed his pic too. No messing about!” said another.
McIlroy’s win on Sunday was his fifth career major title and his first since 2014, ending an 11-year drought. The victory not only brought him golfing immortality but also inspired playful jabs among fellow pros. NBC commentator and former PGA Tour player Smylie Kaufman tweeted, “I’m changing mine to Grand Slam participant,” referencing his own five major appearances and McIlroy’s far more decorated resume.
For now, McIlroy has headed back to his hometown of Hollywood, County Down, to celebrate with family. His wife Erica and daughter Poppy were at Augusta to cheer him on, though his parents were unable to attend in person. That didn’t stop McIlroy from calling the win “a dream come true.”
With the U.S. PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open still ahead this summer, some fans are even wondering cou if he complete a single-year grand slam next?
For now, the Instagram bio says it all: “Grand Slam winner.” And as one fan put it simply: “Love it, Rory.”
