NEW DELHI: Former president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh GK told a Delhi court that he had received a pen drive allegedly containing the voice recording of Congress functionary Jagdish Tytler confessing his role in the killing of 100 Sikhs in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The court of special judge Jitendra Singh was recording the statement of GK in the case regarding the murder of three Sikhs—Sardar Thakur Singh, Badal Singh, and Gurcharan Singh—who were killed on Nov 1, 1984, in Pul Bangash Gurdwara, in which Tytler is an accused.
GK, president of the DSGMC from 2013 to 2018, deposed before the court that he received a pen drive at his residence in 2018 in an envelope. He submitted before the court that he did not know how to operate the pen drive, and it was played in the office of the DSGMC.
"In the said pen drive, there were revelations of accused Jagdish Tytler about the killing of 100 Sikhs through him," said GK.
The member of the DSGMC told the judge that Tytler, in the video, allegedly claimed that he got appointed the judges of the Delhi High Court and that the Congress high command promised to make him chief minister of Delhi. Tytler allegedly said that his son is a partner in a company with an account in a Swiss bank and that some of his friends misappropriated Rs 150 crores from him, GK said.
However, the recording of the statement could not be completed as the court deferred further examination in chief because GK was feeling unwell due to a kidney ailment and requested an adjournment. The next hearing of the matter is scheduled for April 21.
He also told the court that the other person with Tytler in the audio-video conversation/sting contained in the pen drive is Ravinder Singh Chauhan, who "admitted" the "confession/revelation" made by Tytler in front of him, which were contained in the pen drive.
GK told the court that Chauhan did not want his name to go to the media and promised to appear before any investigating agency. He said he handed over the audio-video recordings along with a letter to the investigating agencies so that justice may be served to the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots.
Further, GK submitted that in 2008, Surinder Singh Granthi met him, who claimed he was "in fear and under pressure at that time". GK alleged that Granthi told him that there was a threat from Tytler and he was under extreme pressure.
Notably, Granthi (now deceased) is the one who described the incident of the killing of Badal Singh to his wife, Lakhwinder Kaur, a key witness in the case. Kaur, in her statement last year in October, deposed before the court that Granthi met her in 2008 in Karkardooma Courts.
Senior advocate HS Phoolka said, "Manjit Singh GK gave the content of pen drive in a CD to CBI, CBI sent it to CFSL, and CFSL identified it as the voice of Tytler."
